Job Description:
Description Primary Function : The Enrichment Specialist will
collaborate with lead teachers to develop and implement an
integrated curriculum that utilizes constructivist instructional
methods appropriate for each grade level. They will help create a
healthy and safe learning environment that demonstrates respect for
all and supports student success. They will communicate and partner
effectively with lead teachers and parents to support student
learning. They will support in evaluating student learning and
adapting to evaluation data to continually improve our academic
program. This position is also responsible for supporting the
academic and socio/emotional growth of our diverse group of
students. The Enrichment Specialist communicates regularly with
lead teachers and parents and establishes positive relationships
with all stakeholders in our learning community. Essential
Functions: Supports students through rigorous and measurable
academic outcomes by: Supporting the design of a rigorous,
well-rounded, environmentally sensitive program Planning with lead
teachers, preparing, and supporting with lessons that utilize a
variety of instructional strategies based on constructivism.
Supporting with differentiating teaching based on the diverse and
individual needs of all students. Maintaining high expectations for
students’ learning and overall conduct Assisting lead teachers with
instruction and subject matter integration in the general classroom
during the times you are not supporting with enrichment activities.
Participating regularly in professional development Communicating
and building positive relationships with students, students’
families, colleagues, and other stakeholders Working
collaboratively in a professional learning community and
participating in curriculum and developmental programs, as
applicable. Works with other teachers to support in creating and
implement an interdisciplinary curriculum. Supporting individual
and small group work to adapt the curriculum to the needs of
students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to
accommodate a variety of instructional activities Working with lead
teacher in developing authentic ways of assessing student progress,
and maintaining records of student learning Planning and presenting
displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students’ work for the
school and the community. Supporting with maintaining adequate
records of student learning Classroom Management, Relationships,
and Tone Help create a healthy and safe learning environment and
build personal relationships with all students that demonstrate
respect and compassion for all and supports student success.
Support with implementing social-emotional skills though the
curriculum. Help to maintain a classroom atmosphere which is safe,
accepting, positive, and interactive. Help create opportunities for
students to learn with and from each other through varied
groupings, partnerships, and shared learning experiences. Instruct
students in proper care and use of tools and equipment. Organize
storage areas and control the use of materials, equipment, and
tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize time required for
distribution and collection. Communications Communicate
effectively, both orally & in writing, with students, teachers,
parents, & other professionals routinely. Communicate and partner
effectively with lead teachers and parents to support student
learning. Respond to communications from stakeholders in a
respectful and timely manner. Collaborate with lead teachers on
music lesson plans, assessment data, progress reports, narratives,
and other documentation. Participate professionally in scheduled
meetings. Professionalism and Teamwork Model professional behaviors
and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers,
and the broader community. Maintain reliability, consistent
attendance, and punctuality. Other Functions: Adhering to school
policies, procedures, and deadlines Assist in the
before/afterschool carpool. Perform other duties as assigned.
Assist in other school programs when necessary. Knowledge of:
Constructivist learning theory and its translation and application
in the grade level of assignment; Classroom management strategies
and approaches to creating and maintaining a classroom environment
of safety, respect, and learning; Cultural and socio-economic
differences in the student population; Conflict resolution
strategies to support healthy social development in children;
Professional skills for collaboration and teamwork with other
education professionals; Written and oral communications skills.
Ability to: Apply constructivist theory to curriculum development;
Translate standards into creative, integrated, project-based
activities; Create and maintain a safe, respectful learning
environment; Meet the needs of a diverse student population;
Support student social and emotional development; Work
collaboratively and professionally with the Larchmont Schools team;
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to support student
success. Use modern technology to support lessons, communication,
and reporting. Physical Requirements : Continual speaking; standing
for extended periods of time; frequent sitting, reaching, walking,
bending, grasping, and pinching; occasional lifting and carrying,
squatting, twisting, or kneeling. Environment: Uneven surfaces,
noise, quick work pace. Requires that the incumbent work
effectively under stressful situations and respond to the
unpredictable behaviors of students. Frequent use of computer
screens. Occasionally involves working outdoors and exposure to
inclement weather. Infrequently involves exposure to traffic
congestion. May rarely involve exposure to biohazardous waste.

Qualifications: (*) Bachelor’s Degree (*) TB Test clearance & DOJ
fingerprint clearance (*)2 successful years teaching students in
the 7-12 grade range with a track record of advancing student
achievement (preferred) (*) Complete familiarity with the CA Common
Core State Standards (preferred) (*) Possess/maintain valid infant,
child and Adult CPR/First Aid/AED certification
