Team as a Locum Nurse Practitioner – General Medicine in California
and Make a Difference in Veterans’ Lives Are you a dedicated Nurse
Practitioner looking for a flexible, impactful role that supports
our nation's veterans? VHS, a proud partner of Veterans Evaluation
Services (VES), is seeking qualified Locum Nurse Practitioners
specializing in General Medicine for nationwide assignments. This
unique opportunity allows you to provide essential health
assessments without the constraints of a traditional practice,
offering both rewarding work and competitive compensation. Key
Responsibilities: Conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams
and Separation Health Assessments primarily through interviews,
with some physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle
strength testing. Perform one-time admin examinations, strictly
non-treatment, non-prescriptive assessments. Complete exams
efficiently within designated timeframes, ensuring timely
submission of reports and addendums. Travel locally within
designated areas, with flexibility to choose shifts based on
availability and preference. Support our veteran population while
enjoying a flexible schedule that can include half-days (4 hours)
or full days (8 hours). Required Skills: Current Nurse Practitioner
license with certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine,
Orthopedic Surgery, or comparable general medicine background.
Experience or familiarity with compensation and pension evaluations
preferred. Strong interviewing skills and the ability to perform
basic physical assessments. Excellent organizational skills to
manage documentation efficiently. Ability to work independently and
remotely with a commitment to accuracy and professionalism. Nice to
Have Skills: Prior experience in veteran healthcare or
military-related assessments. Knowledge of medical documentation
and reporting software. Comfort working within government or
military healthcare settings. Preferred Education and Experience:
Minimum of a Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or higher. At least 2
years of clinical practice, ideally in primary, internal, or
orthopedic medicine. Experience conducting evaluations and
assessments in diverse environments. Other Requirements: Candidates
must reside within 50 miles of assigned locations, with some
flexibility based on rural area considerations. Availability to
complete required training and initial exams to qualify for bonus
incentive. No travel outside of local areas beyond reimbursed
travel costs. Must be able to work on a PRN basis with ongoing
opportunities. Willingness to perform administrative follow-up
tasks such as addendums and reports. Certifications related to DMA
or portal training are not reimbursed prior to start. This is a
