journey!About the Role:The Engineer VII - Senior Project Manager
will utilize creativity, foresight, and mature judgment to
anticipate and solve unprecedented problems. This role involves
making authoritative decisions and recommendations that
significantly impact extensive organizational activities. The
Engineer VII - Senior Project Manager will set priorities and
navigate competing interests while managing programs with complex
features. Additionally, they will assist with Business Development
by gathering intelligence from existing clients and may help manage
specific client accounts.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee and analyze the financial performance of client
accounts and engineering projects.
- Identify opportunities for cost control and revenue
enhancement.
- Ensure timely and accurate client invoicing, work in progress
(WIP), and accounts receivable (AR) management.
- Serve as the initial contact for accounts receivable at 45
days; at 75 days, engage with the PIC or accounting team, checking
client-specific terms.
- The Finance team will develop a list of outstanding ARs and
share it with Project Accountants, who will then inform Project
Managers to start contacting clients for payments.
- Work to expedite collections and maintain financial
integrity.
- Actively engage in project reviews to ensure quality and
alignment with goals.
- Contribute to identifying improvements and solutions based on
review feedback.
- Ensure adherence to the Project Delivery Quality Program to
maintain quality standards and best practices.
- Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement within
project teams.
- Develop and enforce scope and pricing reviews to ensure
compliance with established rules and standards.
- Ensure that pricing and scope adhere to budget constraints and
quality expectations.
- Oversee and provide suggestions for enhancements in the
effective use of NetSuite and project delivery processes.
- Lead a major project team or several moderate-sized project
teams for the organization.
- Identify potential upcoming opportunities with existing
clients.
- May assist with client account management.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business
needs.External Job QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Proficient with electronic communications, including e-mail and
text, as well as standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft
Office Suite).
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Skills in persuasion and negotiation of critical
issues.Required Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited
program.Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- 15+ years of prior experience.
- 5+ years of prior experience in project management.
- Engaged in life-long learning to maintain knowledge of
contemporary issues.
- Business development skills.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards and guidelines.
- Established relationships with railroad clients.Preferred
Additional Qualifications, Certifications, etc.:
- Professional Engineer (PE), equivalent, or authorization of
CLPO.
- Member of a professional practice organization, national board
member or officer, recognized expert in statewide activity, and a
