We also believe in our team members taking ownership of their performance and how that contributes to the overall success of their role.Position SummaryLiving Spaces is seeking an experienced Vice President of Merchandising. As the Vice President of Merchandising, you will be responsible for leading the execution of the merchandising strategy for Living Spaces furniture + accessory divisions. The ideal candidate will collaborate + align with key business partners such as the Director of Planning, Director of Visual Merchandising, Director of Product Development, VP of Global Sourcing and the various Executives in charge of Store Operations, Marketing and eCommerce. You will drive product development, pricing strategies and curation of an assortment that is relevant, fresh and exciting that consistently delivers on quality, style and value. You will lead the Company by establishing and maintaining efficient and profitable operations, and you will seek opportunities to influence the customer experience by establishing and modifying best practices. The position is based in the corporate office in La Mirada, CA on a hybrid model of 2-3x week in the office.Position Description

  • Drive to achieve or exceed sales, gross margin and inventory turn goals by optimizing all aspects of the product groupings and delivering appropriate assortments that delight our customers
  • Develop and execute a merchandising and pricing strategy that upholds the long established reputation of the business, including identifying/testing new strategies to improve productivity and deliver excellent values
  • Effectively manage the selection and development of our proprietary product offering; ensuring product assortment is balanced, inspiring, and meets profitability goals
  • Own, manage and drive global product merchandise calendar, identifying key milestone dates/changes
  • Develop the long range plan and vision for Living Spaces product in partnership with EVP of Merchandising
  • Develop and lead the omni-channel merchandising strategy that supports both brand and corporate strategic imperatives
  • Drive operational excellence in Merchandising
  • Lead and guide omni-channel product architecture, building into a line plan that supports the business goals in partnership with merchants and planners
  • Develop and train Product Management team through continued innovation and continual improvement of processes
  • Build and manage succession planning for all levels to ensure the availability of future talent
  • Travel throughout the US and globally alongside the Merchandising, Product Development and Global Sourcing Teams as we develop, curate and source our proprietary assortment
  • Attend and represent Product Management team for sales meetings, markets, tradeshows and other key account meetings
  • Possess strong forecasting and analytical skills in partnership with Merchandise Planning in order to maintain effective service levels and high inventory turns
  • Partner with Merchandise Planning weekly and monthly to present and implement strategic changes in the business to improve profitability and to ensure financial goals are met
  • Partner with Visual Merchandising to ensure store experience is exciting, inspiring and unique
  • Possess a high level of learning agility with the ability to translate conceptual strategies into easily understood execution plans and lead change management
  • Manage Merchandising team annual budgetsQualificationsRequirements:
    • Bachelor's degree required, Advanced degree a plus
    • 10-12+ years of experience in Merchandising or Buying as a VP/GMM/DMM for a progressive retailer with multiple store locations and strong multi-channel operation
    • Knowledge of the home furnishing industry is strongly preferred with a passion for home and home d--cor a must
    • Experience with supplier management with specific expertise in international sourcing is strongly preferred
    • Must have experience as a manager who can properly influence people and processes in a manner that enriches the company's culture and overall team performance
    • Must have a successful track record of leadership and the ability to attract, develop and retain world class talent
    • Must be an outstanding servant leader, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Must be a consummate team player, putting others before self, and actively engage stakeholders at all levels both inside and outside of the company
    • Must be customer focused, both internal and external to the Company
    • Must be business savvy and demonstrate the ability to grasp the business model and strategic plans of the enterprise
    • Must be familiar with analytics tools and methods for measuring success through data and KPI's
    • Must understand and manage a working relationship with finance, budgeting, P&L, merchandising, marketing and effectively interact with corporate executive and senior management
    • Must be able to clearly articulate and execute an aggressive retail growth strategy, with direct involvement from new market research
    • Must demonstrate proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Adobe Creative Suite and Tableau
