Job Description:
Job Description Job Purpose A Contingent position that will work
with Designers, Vehicle Performance, and Electronics Specialists to
test, modify, and evolve hardware systems on race cars and
track-focused road cars. Work to prove-out durability and
performance to technical targets. Report and communicate on
lessons-learned during the development process. Devise innovative
tools and methods to test cars, subsystems, and parts. Document
problem reports for failures in the field. Analyze data logged on
cars, to trace down root causes. Track and manage resolution of
vehicle hardware issues. Devise countermeasures. Work with
designers and manage 3rd parties to implement design changes.
Manage and execute testing of countermeasure parts. Manage and
execute test and development of new vehicles, and vehicle hardware
updates. Regularly liaise with 3rd party vendors, race teams, and
test facilities. Specify instrumentation, perform data analysis,
and write reports on the outcomes of development initiatives.
Devise new and improved ways to test parts and systems, either in
track driving tests, or in workshop rig tests. Work with designers,
electronics groups, and suppliers to implement new testing
equipment and methods. Qualifications, Experience, and Skills BS
Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Experience with 3-dimension CAD
software modelling of race car components. At least 5 years of
professional experience. Strong analytical skills are required.
Knowledge and hands-on experience with racing cars and related
electronics and mechanical systems. Previous experience evaluating
and implementing design changes, specifications, and drawing
releases. Previous experience coordinating activities related to
project development, scheduling, and resolution of engineering
design and test issues. Extensive knowledge of racing car
mechanical systems and structural elements Strong knowledge of
engineering principles and theories. Knowledge of raw material
specifications and codes. Strong Project Management skills. Strong
data analysis and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate
effectively in a team-oriented environment. Ability to accurately
apply engineering theories to analysis of real-world data. Must be
able to lift up to 30 lbs of vehicle components Working Conditions
Physical Demands Requirements: Bending body downward and forward by
bending spine at the waist while working. Bending legs at knee to
come to a rest on knee or knees to work on close to the groundwork.
Crawling. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet to work
underneath suspended vehicles/engines/equipment to diagnosis
problems and or remove replace parts. Standing for sustained
periods during work or events. Sitting. Extensive travel and long
travels. Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks
(particularly walking long distances at the track to pit lane and
around shop) Lifting. Raising objects of 25 pounds from a lower to
a higher position or moving objects horizontally from
position-to-position. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements
(motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers while servicing /
maintaining a race engine, vehicles and equipment. The worker is
subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such
as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles,
electrical current, exposure to high heat and exposure to
